Heal Sunburn!

The sun produces Vitamin D and when we get sunburnt the sun helps to repair skin damage. After sunbathing take a high dose of supplements for positive results to reduce redness, swelling and inflammation according to “What Doctors Won’t Tell You”.

Researchers at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio have been testing the healing powers of the Vitamin at levels of between 50,000 and 200,000 IU and the daily recommended allowance is 400 IU. Volunteers who were given the highest doses saw their skin inflammation subside dramatically after just 48 hours and they also had less skin redness.

Vitamin D seemed to have the greatest protection and the fastest healing for those with the highest blood levels by triggering activity in the genes.

The protective barriers in the skin are promoted by vitamin D to also reduce inflammation. What the researchers did not expect was that a certain dose of Vitamin D not only was capable of suppressing inflammation, it was also activating skin repair “said researcher Kurt Lu”

20 Volunteers were tested by researchers and they were put under a UV lamp until their arm was red. After an hour, they were given varying doses of Vitamin D, ranging from 50,000 to 200,000 IU, and were checked everyday for three days to see if the skin was healing.
